We regret the result of yesterday’s referendum.

We consider that a united Europe is the best way to preserve peace and prosperity. That is why we supported the Remain camp with the message #REMAINplus, advocating for a constructive UK role from the inside in the process of EU integration. However, at this point a majority of the English and Welsh electorate do not share this vision, despite the fact that the UK had a key role in shaping today’s Europe including the single market and successive EU enlargements.

“I am sorry for the many pro-Europe friends in the UK and especially for the British youth, who mainly voted to stay in, will pay the price of this ill-prepared referendum launched after years of EU-bashing” argued Pietro De Matteis, President of the European Federalist Party.

“Now it is crucial that those countries that REALLY want to work together act with VISION and AMBITION, moving openly towards a Federal Europe better able to deal effectively and democratically with today’s challenges and respond to citizens needs” he continued.

BREXIT ? dernier « opt-out » pour le  Royaume-Uni. Et maintenant?

Nous regrettons le résultat du référendum d’hier.

Nous considérons qu’une Europe unie est le meilleur et seul moyen de préserver la paix et la prospérité. C’est la raison pour laquelle nous avons soutenu ceux qui voulaient maintenir le Royaume-Uni dans l’UE, avec le slogan #REMAINplus, plaidant pour un rôle plus positif du Royaume-Uni dans le processus d’intégration de l’UE. Nous prenons note, cependant, qu’une majorité d’anglais et gallois ne partagent pas cette vision, oubliant le fait que le Royaume-Uni a joué un rôle clé dans la construction de l’Europe d’aujourd’hui, y compris le marché unique et les élargissements.

« Je suis désolé pour les nombreux amis pro-européens du Royaume-Uni et en particulier pour les jeunes Britanniques qui vont payer le prix fort face à cette aventure référendaire mal préparée après des années de dénigrement de l’Union Européen” a déclaré Pietro De Matteis, président du Parti fédéraliste européen.

“Il est crucial maintenant que les pays qui veulent vraiment travailler ensemble agissent fermement, avec VISION et AMBITION, et avancent ouvertement vers une Europe fédérale mieux en mesure de répondre, avec efficacité et fonctionnement démocratique, aux défis d’aujourd’hui » a-t-il poursuivi.
