PRESS RELEASE – Thank you Nelson Mandela.

Today, 5th December 2013, the world deplores the death of a great man.

Nelson Mandela, you taught us that change is possible even in the hardest circumstances. You showed the world that reconciliation is the best way to make that change sustainable. You demonstrated that love and mutual understanding can be stronger than hate and racism.

As you used to say: “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

This is one of the lessons that we will remember and apply in our daily lives. In fact, as pointed out by Pietro De Matteis, EFP co-President: “At a time when nationalism and racism in Europe are on the rise, Mandela’s teachings are more relevant than ever. For Europe and for the rest of the world“.
