Coordinators’ biography | |
Jacques: After my graduation as master in trade and international relations and a scholarship in Hong Kong, I started my career in the private sector in various business areas but always in the field of international trade both in insurance and reinsurance, and textile and held various positions in marketing and sales, strategy and mergers & acquisitions for a leading European building materials group. My activity covered a large part of Europe, Africa, Middle East and mainly Asia. My activities have allowed me to witness firsthand the economic emergence of South East Asia, China and India . At the same time my exposure to the global scene has convinced me of the value and the necessity of the European project . Today, I provide consultancy services to MSE ‘s, related to investment and business development projects I live close to Brussels in the Flemish countryside with my wife and two daughters. Pietro: A convinced European federalist, Pietro De Matteis holds a PhD in international studies form the University of Cambridge. After some experience at the European Central Bank and at the EU Institute for Security Studies, he currently works for the European Commission. An economist by training, he graduated from the University of Milan-Bicocca (summa cum laude) and obtained a Masters-level degree from the European College of Parma. Thanks to some scholarships he had the opportunity to research in the US (Columbia University) and in China (Renmin University).Pietro joined the federalist movements (e.g. JEF, GFE) after his Erasmus year at University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne in 2003. Following the rejection of the “European Constitution” in France and in the Netherlands he started to work for the creation of a truly pan-European and federalist political party, capable of giving Europeans a stronger and more direct voice in European politics. Since 2011 he serves as the President of the European Federalist Party.

Tristan: Studying European law and political sciences, I am convinced that European federalism is needed in order to improve the functioning of democracies in Europe. The European integration project is a unique chance to bring transparency and accountability to our political system. Mariarosaria: Mariarosaria has a degree in Public Communication and an extensive experience as accountant in large businesses. Europe is her daily life: she now works as the European Treasurer for European Federalist Party and she is also a European Project Manager for Local Authorities.Her dream is to make Europe a daily experience that enlightens the daily life of its citizens and supports them in building their own future.
Roberto: Roberto studied Development Economics and International Trade Relations at the University of Namur in Belgium and the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China. He has since been working in Brussels and Shanghai for European companies, including in high-tech sectors such as nanotechnology and chemicals, focusing on business development in Asia and Europe and e-commerce. As part of his functions Roberto participates in the preparation of public tenders for European companies in the European Union and China. He is pursuing further studies in European Law and Institutions, and has a special interest in trade liberalization, incentives for innovation and public investment.Roberto was a candidate in the list: “Stand Up for the United States of Europe” for the European elections in Belgium in 2014.
