“We are all Greeks, We are all Europeans!”

On June 9th hundreds of Europeans in several European cities will be meeting to show their support and solidarity to the Greek people by organising some EUROPE-WIDE PIC NICS (with Greek food) and some FLASH MOBS while displaying the European and the Greek Flags! Only a stronger and more united Europe can provide a durable solution to the current crisis! That is why citizens from all over Europe are asking for action! Why this initiative?

The aim is to show the support of Europeans to the Greek people ahead of the Greek elections (June 17) and to push the European leaders to take a step further in the process of European integration at the upcoming European Summit (28-29 June).

The Greek people are the first victims of bad governance, the corruption of many politicians and economic actors as well as the lack of a real European government. But to remedy this dramatic negative spiral the EU must play quite a different role compared to that so far played by the "Merkozy" duo, the IMF and the Commission. We call therefore on the European institutions in the first place to:

• Reopen the discussion on the most socially detrimental parts of the Memorandum, reviewing, where necessary, the deadlines to implement the necessary reforms so to avoid the destruction of the social state;
• Launch a plan of economic and financial aid (a “Green New Deal” financed through the Financial Transaction Tax, the Carbon Tax, and Project Bonds).
• We also call for the organisation of a Constituent Assembly tasked to draft a federal Constitution to be submitted to the European citizens for approval in a pan-European referendum
