Federalist Convention: Brussels November 9th and 10th
On Saturday 9th the conference hosted two debates with high level speakers including members of the European Parliament, representatives from NGOs and businesses from around Europe. The first part focused on the key challenges that Europe is facing today, including foreign policy, transparency of European decision-making, economic stability, and welfare and quality of life. In turn, the second panel focused on the difficulties and strategies of communicating the idea of Europe and engaging Europeans. It was also the opportunity for the panelists to present the wide array of initiatives and projects that they have been running over recent months, including art exhibits, visual design projects, online platforms and European Citizens’ Initiatives. The full agenda and list of speakers can be accessed here.
On Sunday 10th the Convention voted and adopted the political programme that will be defended by the candidates running with the EFP at the 2014 European Parliament Elections. The final programme can be accessed here. The full photo album covering the Convention is up on our Facebook page!
The message of co-Presidents Pietro De Matteis and Yves Gernigon emphasized “This is the beginning of a new era in European politics. Now the European Federalist Party is ready to face the rising nationalist forces thanks to a sound political programme that we will defend ahead of the next European elections! All pro-Europeans and federalists should now join us to change Europe!”.
